The Grand Falls of Arizona
One of Arizona’s Greatest Hidden Gems
Arizona is home to some of the most stunning landscapes in the world, from the Grand Canyon to towering saguaro cacti. But one of its most underrated and breathtaking natural wonders is Grand Falls, nestled in the Navajo Nation often referred to as "Chocolate Falls" due to its muddy, chocolate-colored water.
The Beauty of Grand Falls
Grand Falls is a unique sight, standing at an impressive 185 feet—making it even taller than Niagara Falls! Unlike many waterfalls that have a steady flow, Grand Falls is seasonal, with its most dramatic cascades occurring during the spring snowmelt or after heavy monsoon rains. The waterfall is formed as the Little Colorado River spills over ancient lava flows, creating a stunning tiered effect as the water tumbles down the rugged rock formations. When in full flow, the falls resemble a giant chocolate fountain, a rare and mesmerizing phenomenon.
