Herb Martyr Waterfall within Cave Creek Canyon, Arizona

Nestled in the heart of Cave Creek Canyon flows the serene Cave Creek, a year-round waterway sustained by rain, snowmelt, and natural springs. During the years 1933 to 1942, the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) left a lasting legacy in this area, constructing many of the Forest Service campgrounds and improving roads that visitors continue to enjoy today. Their efforts also included building and staffing fire lookout towers and constructing two small dams along Cave Creek.

One of these dams, located just below the Herb Martyr Campground on the South Fork of the creek, forms a picturesque 30-foot waterfall. This tranquil cascade creates a gentle and timeless scene, inviting viewers to appreciate the harmony of nature and history.
