Ear of the Wind is one of many de Chelly Sandstone arches that can be seen in Monument Valley Navajo Tribal Park. Ear of the Wind is not a proper arch but rather a hole in the sandstone.
We arrived at the arch in the afternoon to ensure to capture the whole rock face in full sun, allowing us to pick up the incredible color of the DeChelly sandstone and the darker shading of Desert Varnish. Our visit was also well-timed as the moon was visible through the ear, making this photograph even more special.
